Vegetarian Recipes
  • 1 ½ cups brown or whole grain rice
  • 1 can drained, pre-cooked black eye peas
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 tblsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tblsp McKay's Beef-Style Broth Seasoning
  • 1 tspn Vegit all-purpose seasoning
  • 1 tspn Lawry's seasoned salt
  • 1 tspn toasted onion powder
  • 1 tspn garlic-parsley powder
  • 1 tspn McKay's Beef-Style Broth Seasoning
  • Lawry's Seasoned salt

Prepare rice as directed on package. Add drained black eyed peas to rice and set aside. Slice onion into slithers and saute in oil in large frying pan. When the onion is almost finished sauting, stir in McKay's seasoning,Vegit seasoning and Lawry's seasoned salt. Return rice with sauted onions to frying pan on low heat (turning continuously to avoid sticking). Fold sauted onions evenly into peas and rice. Meanwhile, stir in garlic-parsley powder, toasted onion powder, McKay's seasoning and additional Lawry's seasoned salt to taste. Once seasonings are evenly stirred in, remove from heat immediately and place in serving bowl. Serves 6.
