Hannah (hana). [Heb. Channah, "graciousness." The name occurs on an ancient Hebrew seal found at Lachish.] One of the 2 wives of the Levite Elkanah, and mother of Samuel, who was born to her in answer to special prayer and whom she dedicated to God. She later became the mother of 5 more children (1 Sa 1:1 to 2:21) -- Seventh-day Adventist Bible Dictionary.
