Vegetarian Recipes
  • 1 pkg WhiteWave vegetarian stir fry gluten strips
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tblsp McKay's Beef-Style Broth Seasoning
  • 2 tblsp vegetable oil
  • 2 medium onions
  • 1 bag PictSweet frozen vegetable stir-fry (Singapore flavour*)

Thaw gluten strips and cut into thinner strips. In small pan, dissolve McKay's seasoning in water and heat. As soon as water/seasoning is heated, place gluten strips in sauce pan and simmer on low until strips are soft and juicy. Slice onions lengthwise and saute in oil in large frying pan. Add gluten strips to sauted onions in frying pan and fold in thoroughly. Place gluten and onions into large serving dish with a top on it to keep hot and set aside. Prepare bag of frozen vegetable stir-fry as directed on package. [*The Japanese, Chinese or any other flavoured frozen vegetable stir-fry may be used in place of the Singapore flavoured one.] Place prepared vegetable stir-fry on top of gluten and onions, and fold in thoroughly so that the gluten, onions and vegetables are evenly distributed. Present gluten stir fry on top of couscous, noodles or rice. Serve with whole wheat dinner rolls or corn bread. Serves 8.
